$14 Movie Tickets for $5
This isn't a special through Promote Nashville, but you can say you heard about it here first. The web site Weekly Cinema allows you to buy tickets at a greatly reduced cost. Four (4) tickets only cost you $19.99 and can be redeemed from Fandango.com (almost any theatre in Nashville) for up to $14 per ticket. It can be used on 3D films as well as IMAX films once Opry Mills reopens.
The catch seems only to be that you have to buy a voucher from Fandango within the month you buy the vouchers from Weekly Cinema. However, once you buy a ticket from Fandango, it is good for another 90 days after the day you buy the voucher. So you, technically, have up to 120 days to use the voucher you buy from Weekly Cinema.
Go to their website to check it out, but this is a great deal with shrinking matinee hours and increasing prices for movies at all times. Even the cheap movies are 7 or 8 dollars each. If this website lasts, it could mean a new revitalization of cinema and will make me less irritated when I want to see a movie I end up not liking. Like the new comedy that looks great in the trailer, but sucks in real life.
Living Social featured them yesterday. This is where I found out about it. Turns out, however, the Living Social deal can be had through their website every day!

Last Chance to Buy NBN VIP Tickets
Next Big Nashville is upon us again. Be sure to get your VIP pass for only $250.00 before the events start tomorrow! This will get you into all the music shows, all the parties and events all four nights. The $45 wrist band gets you into all the music venues and some of the parties. You get your moneys worth even if all you see is RJD2 and Yeasayer. Everything else is just a huge bonus to being proactive with your ticket buying. I know there are bands you've never heard of on stage, so why wouldn't you check them out with your wristband. You may find a new favorite or you may think they all are crap, but at least you went out there and found out for yourself and hopefully met some new friends along the way.
If you are trying to make it in the industry, this is a great way to learn from insiders and those who have been there before you. Hell, you probably even have time for a question or two. So hit up Next Big Nashville this week for some great music and a little education maybe.

Rollergirls-Last Bout
The bout that will end the season for the Nashville Rollergirls is August 7. Come out to see them in their new home at Municipal Auditorium. Ticket prices include two bouts and are only $10 in advance. There is just no way to beat that price on any entertainment in Nashville. Also, the caliber of these matches is amazing. They are rough, tough, and full of excitement. It is appropriate for all ages. Lets go NRG!

Nashville Roller Girls
I've been hearing a lot of great things about the new roller derby leagues that have teams across the US and Canada, but I never got the chance to really look into going to a bout. Football and baseball have games, soccer and tennis have matches, whereas roller derby has bouts.
Two months ago I tried to go to my first bout, but to my shock, it was totally SOLD OUT! What? Turns out, this is a huge phenomena here in Nashville and I cannot believe I didn't get the memo earlier. You see, sold out for the Nashville Roller Girls (NRG) means that over 1000 adoring fans are on hand to cheer on OUR team. Yes, they are my team now, too. They sell out regularly.
I bought tickets early for the April bout against the Ohio Rollergirls. It was an amazing experience. Everyone in the packed arena was totally into it, cheering and shouting at the top of their lungs as NRG ended up pounding the crap out of the Ohio team. Turns out NRG is a really talented team of girls that can hang tough again any team out there. This year they are undefeated! In a league with teams that travel all of North America, this is no simple task.
It sounds cliche, but there is so much positive energy at the roller girl events. It was electric. You will not want to miss out on the next bout. See the flier below for details about the May 1st bout against Arch Rival Rollergirls from St. Louis, MO. I had to buy 16 tickets this time, for all my friends found out I was going and they weren't going to miss out on the fun.
I hope you enjoy the video I put together documenting my first NRG experience.
You can find out a ton more and buy tickets on the NRG website at http://www.nashvillerollergirls.com/.You can also perv around the site to find the rollergirl(s) you have the hots for and look for her after the bout to get a picture. It will make your friends jealous, so you'll have more to join you at the next bout.
Click on the image below for a flickr site with a lot of great photos of the girls too.
